Officially verified, Wise has fully opened ID card verification and account opening for Chinese mainland users! Chinese mainland users can now verify directly using their National ID card on Wise for deposits, adding new accounts, or using features, takes just a few minutes—convenient and fast. (Mainland accounts do not support CNY deposits or direct charging at the moment; you need to open other currency accounts, such as HKD, SGD, or USD).

ID Card Verification Steps
After Registering a Wise account, choose the foreign currency balance you want to charge and specify which foreign currency you intend to use for charging (e.g., USD or HKD). Currently, charging with CNY is not supported. Additionally, when creating a USD account, you no longer need to submit proof of address as before.

After selecting the payment method, you can see all supported deposit methods and corresponding amounts charged, clear and transparent. Wise will not charge any extra fees; charging via HKD supports lossless deposit!

Selecting a charge method will enter the identification verification page (this appears only when China is selected for the residence country/region). Check “National ID Card” and follow the instructions. The verification process requires taking photos of the ID card, so please prepare it. (Uploading photos/files from the gallery is not supported; must take in-app).

Taking ID card photos requires both front and back sides. After taking photos, you will enter the confirmation page. After submitting, face recognition verification via self-portrait is required.

After completion, you will receive a Wise confirmation email saying the identification verification has been completed.

After verification, you can enjoy convenient, low-cost charge and transfer services. Wise fees are transparent with no hidden charges.
Tips
- Use an English Name: We recommend Chinese mainland users use an English name during registration to help better link with overseas accounts for easier transfers later.
- Personal Account Only: ID verification is limited to personal accounts; corporate accounts do not support this feature yet.
- HKD Lossless Deposit: Wise now support HKD lossless deposit with only one HK Card. Chinese mainland users are recommended to charge via HKD to save fees.
